To insure success on your project, get Metalplate involved as early as possible. The most successful projects have been those where Metalplate Galvanizing was consulted prior to the start of fabrication. Metalplate will offer or be amenable to meet with the Engineer, Contractor, and Fabricator. At that time, agreements should be finalized on the application of current standards, practices, conditions and/or allowable variations. Because of its potential influence on galvanized coating development, the selection of steel chemistry should also be discussed. Additional items that should be considered include:

• Inspection criteria
• Allowable repair / touch-up techniques and amounts
• Design and fabrication techniques which promote quality coatings
• Maximum sizes and weights which can be accommodated
• The amount of pregalvanizing fabrication to be done

In lieu of any other written agreements, Metalplate will galvanize to the specifications and practices contained in the following ASTM Standards:

A-123	Zinc (Hot Galvanized) Coatings on Iron and Steel Products.
A-143	Safeguarding Against Embrittlement of Hot-Dip Galvanized Structural Steel Products and Procedure for Detecting Embrittlement.
A-153	Zinc Coating (Hot Dip) on Iron and Steel Hardware.
A-384	Safeguarding Against Warpage and Distortion During Hot Dip Galvanizing of Steel Assemblies.
A-385	Providing High Quality Zinc Coating (Hot Dip) on Assembled Products.
A-780	Standard Practice for Repair of Damaged Hot Dip Galvanized Coatings.
